Sweet and Sour sauce
1 small can unsweetened pineapple tidbits with juice
½ c Rice Vinegar (No sugar and No sodium added)
½ c splenda
¼ c chopped bell peppers
¼ c chopped onion
½ tsp crushed ginger
½ c water
¼ c soy sauce
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp cold water
In a small saucepot add pineapple, vinegar, splenda, bell peppers, onion, ginger, water, soy sauce and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes to allow flavors to blend. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and cold water. Add to the sauce and mix well. Heat to boiling and lower heat to a simmer for about 5 minutes or until the veggies are tender.
This is a Wonderful all purpose sweet and sour sauce that is excellent with meats and chicken as well as veggies. It also makes an excellent dip! This is NOT the Kool-aid red stuff you get at the corner take out place!! |
