|
Shown here made into a Chicken Alfredo pizza
Honey Wheat Pizza Dough
1 pkg Quick rise yeast
1 ½- 2 c warm water
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp dried Italian seasoning(optional)
½ tsp garlic powder(optional)
3 c Whole wheat flour
1 c All purpose flour (white)
1 scoop ANY WHEY protein powder(optional)
4 tsp Wheat Gluten
1 tsp kosher or sea salt
In the bowl of your mixer (with a dough hook) add warm water followed by the yeast. Stir to dissolve the yeast. Add in the remaining ingredients and mix with the dough hook until the dough forms a ball. The dough will be soft, but shouldn’t be too sticky. If it is, add a little additional flour. Spray a bowl with cooking spray and put the dough in the bowl, spray the top with cooking spray and cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place. Punch dough down and then kneed for about 5 minutes adding flour as needed. Divide dough into desired number of pieces and roll out. You can roll it thinner for a thinner crust if desired. Sprinkle a baking sheet with corn meal and place dough rounds on the cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 450 degree oven for about 6 minutes. This will make them done enough to store or freeze for later use, but not over cook them. When you are ready to make a pizza with them, top them with your favorite pizza sauce and some FF mozzarella cheese, plus what ever other toppings you choose! Bake until toppings are heated through and cheese is melted. This makes a soft crust that’ s full of flavor. You can also divide this up much smaller and it makes great wheat rolls! It would also make a great pita or flat bread! It’s a very versatile dough and very easy to work with!
Stats:
If divided into 8 servings=221 cals and 11g protein
10 servings=177 cals and 9g protein
12 servings=147 cals and 7g protein
NOTE: Don't forget to add in the calories and what not for you toppings and cheese to come up with an entree total. These totals are for the crust only.

Chris, would this recipe work in a bread machine on the dough setting? I'm trying to find healthy things to make in my new bread machine. _________________ ~ Lani ~ |

I don't see why not Lani! I've never tried it, but it seems like it should work fine! _________________
